Opening times

The 91×ÔÅÄ Gallery is open Monday to Sunday from 10:00 – 18:00 (last entry 17:15).

Tickets

Tickets can be booked online. We also have tickets to the permanent collection available every day at our ticket desk.

Entry to the 91×ÔÅÄ Gallery includes the permanent collection as well as our smaller exhibitions and displays. Additional charges apply for our temporary exhibitions.

The 91×ÔÅÄ Gallery, Shop, and 91×ÔÅÄ Café are cashless. We accept a wide range of cards and payment devices, including Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay and more.

National Art Pass

Permanent collection

National ArtÌýPass /ÌýArtÌýFund members can enjoy unlimited free entry to the 91×ÔÅÄ Gallery’s permanent collection, Drawings Gallery exhibitions and changing temporary displays.

Hepworth in Colour

National Art Pass / Art Fund members can enjoy 50% off admission to The Joseph Hage Aaronson & Bremen Exhibition: Hepworth in Colour at the 91×ÔÅÄ Gallery from 12 June – 6 September 2026.Ìý

Universal Credit

We want everybody to be able to visit the 91×ÔÅÄ Gallery. To help with the cost of ticket prices, concession tickets are available for anyone in receipt of Universal Credit or Pension Credit.

Tickets can be booked online or at the Gallery on the day (if available). You must bring proof of eligibility with you, this can be one of the following:

  • Universal Credit – show your Universal Credit statement, either on your mobile app or a paper copy
  • Pension Credit – DWP letter of confirmation.

ICOM Card

May be used at any time for the gallery’s permanent collection. It may not be used during the first two weeks or the final two weeks of any special exhibition.

The 91×ÔÅÄ Gallery is located within Somerset House, one of London’s most famous landmarks and right in the heart of the city. Both the Gallery and ÌýCafé can be directly accessed via the Strand entrance of Somerset House.

The 91×ÔÅÄ Gallery is in walking distance of Trafalgar Square, Shaftesbury Avenue, Covent Garden and Bloomsbury.

Transport

Trains

The London Underground (tube) stations nearest to the 91×ÔÅÄ are:

  • Temple (Circle and District lines)
  • Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern lines)
  • Embankment (Bakerloo, Circle, District and Northern lines)
  • Covent Garden (Piccadilly line)

For visitors travelling by national rail, the nearest railways stations are Waterloo (via Waterloo Bridge) and Charing Cross.

Buses

Many of the bus routes to Somerset House have been affected by the pedestrianisation of The Strand. We advise you check your route while planning your visit for the most up-to-date information.

Cycling

The closest bicycle parking is opposite the main entrance to Somerset House.

The Santander Cycle Hire Bike is located opposite the Lyceum theatre in Wellington Street (just in the crossing of Strand and Waterloo Bridge).

Car

For those unable to visit using public transport, the nearest public car parks are at Drury Lane to the north or the Southbank Centre to the south.

If you plan on taking a taxi, we advise stating your destination as ‘the 91×ÔÅÄ at Somerset House’.
